How do I prepare for the exam? Which textbook can I use?
There is no textbook designed for students to prepare for the exam. You can, of course, follow a Slovene language course, or work with a tutor. We recommend that you attempt to do a sample test (Basic, Intermediate, Advanced level). It is also very useful to prepare for the exam by speaking Slovene, reading Slovene newspapers, listening to Slovene radio programmes and watching Slovene TV: all of this should help you prepare for the exam.
The series of publications Zbirke testov (test collections at all three levels) provide an opportunity for intensive preparation for the exam. Three books (for each level one) explain test procedure, test tasks and includes three sample tests and a CD. If you try to simulate the testing procedure according to one of these books, this should give you an insight into the exam, its structure, the types of tasks it includes and the main criteria used in evaluating the exam. You can check your answers using the answer key and the samples of written and spoken texts in the Zbirke testov.
Zbirke testov are complemented by textbook Pot do izpita iz slovenščine, which is intended for intensive preparation for the exam of Slovene at intermediate and advanced level. Numerous tasks on both levels can help you simulate the testing procedure and can be of great help – for self-learning or on organised preparations for the exam.
