Is my level of Slovene appropriate?
It is difficult to judge someone's language proficiency without testing it; therefore, your proficiency of Slovene will be accurately assessed by the exam itself. Within the Slovene for Foreigners programme, it is estimated that
- approximately 250 hours of Slovene are needed for the Basic Level Exam,
- approximately 375 hours of Slovene for the Intermediate Level Exam and
- approximately 500 hours for the Advanced Level Exam,
but this is only true for beginners (with no previous knowledge of Slovene).
The sample tests, available on our website or at all the authorised institutions, can be used to test whether the exam level of your choice is suitable for you. The sample tests are available without a fee to anyone, including those who have not registered for the exam. If you attempt to do the tests in the same conditions that apply to the exam (e.g., the limited time available, etc.), your result should give you some indication as to whether or not the exam level you have chosen is suitable for you. If you find the test too difficult, we recommend that you spend some more time preparing (either through self-study or by working with a tutor or attending a Slovene language course). If you find the test easy, we recommend that you choose this level or, if it is possible, a higher level.
