Exam of Slovene on Basic level free of charge
Free integration courses
Based on the Decree on aliens integration (Ur. l. RS, št. 65/2008, Ur. l. RS, št. 86/2010) the following persons are entitled to participate in free courses:
1. Third country nationals who have a temporary residence permit valid for at least a year
You are entitled to a 60 hour Slovene language course and 30 hours of familiarising with Slovene history, culture and Constitution or to a 60 hour combined course.
2. Third country nationals who have been living in slovenia for the past year based on a temporary residence permit issued for a year and their family members with a permit issued for reasons of family reunion
You are entitled to a 180 hour Slovene language course and 30 hours of familiarising with Slovene history, culture and Constitution or to a 180 hour combined course. In case you have already taken a Slovene language course of 60 hours you are entitled to the difference – i.e. 120 hours.
3. Third country nationals who have a permanent residence permit and their family members with a permit issued for reasons of family reunion
You are entitled to a 180 hour Slovene language course and 30 hours of familiarising with Slovene history, culture and Constitution or to a 180 hour combined course.
4. Third country nationals who are family members of slovene citizens or citizens of the european economic area and have a permit issued for reasons of family reunion
You are entitled to a 180 hour Slovene language course and 30 hours of familiarising with Slovene history, culture and Constitution or to a 180 hour combined course.
Exam of Slovene language – basic level
Everyone who participates in the 120 or 180 hour Slovene language course with a minimum 80% attendance is entitled to take a free basic level exam of Slovene. The attendance list is maintained by the course provider.
No right to participate
Persons who have finished schooling at any level in the Republic of Slovenia, who are taking part in a regular educational programme in the RS or have already acquired the certificate verifying the successfully passed exam of Slovene language on at least the basic level are not entitled to participate in Slovene language courses. Foreigners who have finished schooling at any level in the RS are also not entitled to participate in the course on familiarising with Slovene history, culture and Constitution.
Where and how to apply?
To participate in the courses, apply at the administrative unit where you have your registered permanent or temporary residence. If you fulfil the conditions, the administration unit will issue a certificate which you will then produce to the chosen course provider.
